Each of the 12 pavilions corresponded to a sign of the Zodiac, gravitating around a central star: the main pavilion where the King resided. The number 12 evokes the Zodiac’s 12 signs, the 12 hours from dawn to dusk, and the 12 months of the year. A symbol of perfection, harmony, and eternity.

THE CELESTIAL GLOBE of coronelli
The Celestial Globe of Coronelli was commissioned by the Sun King, Louis XIV, and crafted by the cosmographer Vincenzo Coronelli. Nearly four meters in diameter and weighing around two tons, the globe captures the sky on the day of Louis XIV’s birth, mapping constellations, stars, and celestial phenomena with breathtaking precision. The constellations are depicted as fantastical creatures and mythological figures, such as Pegasus, echoing the emblematic signature of Parfums de Marly.

The Machine of Marly was a marvel of modern engineering, designed to draw water from the Seine to supply the fountains of the gardens at the Château de Marly. Powered by fourteen immense waterwheels and an elaborate network of pumps stretching over several kilometers, It was one of the most complex technical feats of its time.
